‘Nigeria Has a Government Disaster’ — Kunle Remi Speaks Out on Insecurity

Nollywood actor Kunle Remi has publicly criticised Nigeria’s worsening security situation, lamenting the continued wave of kidnappings and attacks that have left many families living in fear.
The actor voiced his concerns in a series of posts shared on his Instagram Story and social media page, where he contrasted natural disasters experienced in other parts of the world with what he described as governance failures in Nigeria.
“Other parts of the world have natural disasters. Nigeria has a government disaster,” he wrote, a statement that quickly sparked widespread reactions across social media platforms.
Kunle Remi also highlighted the reported prolonged captivity of schoolchildren and teachers allegedly abducted in Oyo State, expressing concern over the emotional toll on affected families.
“Forty days and families are still torn apart. Children are still suffering simply because they were born in Nigeria,” he stated.
The actor questioned the effectiveness of security efforts, arguing that armed groups appear to operate freely while victims remain in captivity.
“Teachers are still in captivity instead of in their classrooms. Families remain in fear, grief, and dismay,” he added.
His comments come amid increasing public anxiety over persistent insecurity, particularly kidnappings targeting schools, rural communities, and travellers in different parts of the country.
The remarks have further intensified conversations on social media, with many Nigerians calling for stronger government action and improved security measures. While numerous users echoed the actor’s frustrations, others urged caution, stressing the need for verified information regarding specific incidents referenced in his posts.
The debate underscores growing public demands for accountability and a more decisive response to Nigeria’s security challenges.
