Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, to reach out to all voters regardless of political affiliation as he begins his campaign for the 2027 governorship election.

Obasanjo gave the advice on Friday while receiving Adeola and his entourage at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta.

He said electoral success requires support from both supporters and opponents, adding that whoever emerges as governor of Ogun State in 2027 would have his support.

The former president also commended Adeola for his commitment to development, particularly in agriculture, and urged him to leverage Ogun State’s proximity to Lagos by making the state a major food-producing hub.

Obasanjo further advised the APC candidate to prioritise agriculture, tourism and technology if elected governor, while praying that his political ambition aligns with God’s purpose.

Earlier, Adeola said he visited the former president to formally inform him of the commencement of his statewide campaign and seek his blessings, prayers and guidance.

He said he would tour all parts of Ogun State to present his vision for the state and his plans to accelerate development.

Adeola described Obasanjo as a passionate advocate of agriculture and said Ogun has the resources to become the food basket of Lagos and the South-West through proper utilisation of its agricultural potential.

He thanked the former president for receiving him and his delegation despite the short notice.
