British-Nigerian rapper and actor Dave and Nigerian music star Tems have earned a spot on Spotify’s highly anticipated 2026 “Songs of Summer” predictions list, further cementing their growing influence on the global music scene.

The streaming giant unveiled the list on May 29, highlighting tracks selected by its global editorial team as potential soundtrack hits for the summer season based on emerging listening trends and audience engagement across the world.

Dave, whose real name is David Orobosa Michael Omoregie, and Tems, born Temilade Openiyi, were recognised for their collaborative track, “Raindance (feat. Tems).”

Released in October 2025 as the fifth track on Dave’s third studio album, The Boy Who Played the Harp, the song blends Tems’ signature soulful vocals with Dave’s reflective rap style. The track was produced by Jo Caleb, Kyle Evans, Jim Legxacy, and the two artists.

“Raindance” has enjoyed remarkable commercial success since its release, topping the UK Singles Chart and becoming Tems’ first No. 1 song in the United Kingdom. The record has also surpassed 500 million streams globally.

Explaining the selection process, Spotify’s Editorial Lead for Pop, Talia Kraines, said songs chosen for the annual list are tracks capable of connecting with listeners across genres, cultures and countries.

“It’s a song that makes you feel good, that you can listen to outside in the sunshine with your friends, and that has the ability to travel across genres, people, and countries,” Kraines said.

Spotify noted that the 2026 Songs of Summer list features a diverse mix of artists spanning pop, rap, Afrobeats and electronic music. The platform also introduced an in-app voting feature, allowing users to predict which song will emerge as the season’s biggest anthem.

Other artists featured on the list include Ariana Grande, Drake, Olivia Rodrigo, Zara Larsson, PinkPantheress, Don Toliver, Kacey Musgraves, Noah Kahan, and JENNIE alongside Tame Impala.

The recognition marks another milestone for Tems, whose international profile continues to soar, while Dave further strengthens his reputation as one of the most influential voices in contemporary British rap.
