Mercy Chinwo Survived Pregnancy Health Scare After Collapsing at Home, Husband Reveals

Resident pastor of The Waterbrook Church, Blessed Uzochikwa, has opened up about a frightening health crisis involving his wife, gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, during her second pregnancy, describing the experience as one of the most challenging moments for their family.

Speaking during a recent church service in Lagos, Uzochikwa recounted how the incident unfolded while the award-winning singer was expecting their second child, who was later born in 2025.

According to him, Chinwo had stepped out of their bedroom to attend to their son when she suddenly became unwell and collapsed.

The pastor said the situation quickly escalated as the singer remained unresponsive after the fall, triggering panic within the household as loved ones sought immediate help.

In the midst of the emergency, Uzochikwa said he reached out to renowned gospel minister and cleric Nathaniel Bassey, requesting urgent spiritual support.

He disclosed that Bassey initially requested a video call to assess the situation before subsequently arriving with members of the Hallelujah Challenge prayer team.

Sharing his testimony with the congregation, Uzochikwa said Mercy Chinwo eventually regained consciousness after prayers were offered, an experience he described as a powerful demonstration of faith.

“Pastor Nath is a blessing to my family. We talk all the time, and I am honoured to have access to him,” he said while expressing gratitude for the swift response during the incident.

He further revealed that Chinwo’s condition appeared critical at the time, noting that she was unresponsive and that her facial appearance had changed significantly before intervention was sought.

According to Uzochikwa, Nathaniel Bassey later described the incident as a spiritual attack following the singer’s recovery.

The testimony has since generated widespread attention, given the prominence of the personalities involved and the insight it provides into the personal challenges faced by the gospel music star and her family.

Mercy Chinwo and Blessed Uzochikwa got married in August 2022 and welcomed their first child in 2023. The couple later announced the birth of their second child in August 2025.
