The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has deployed more than 56,000 personnel across the country ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations to ensure maximum security and protect critical national infrastructure.
The nationwide operation, ordered by the Commandant General of the Corps, Ahmed Audi, is aimed at safeguarding lives, property, and public facilities during the festive period.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the NSCDC National Public Relations Officer, Babawale Afolabi.
According to the statement, the Corps has also mobilised operational vehicles, ambulances, boats, and K9 units to strengthen emergency response and security operations across the federation.
Afolabi stated that all specialised tactical squads within the NSCDC had been placed on high alert to prevent any security breaches during the celebrations.
The squads include the Mining Marshals, Special Intelligence Squad, Crack Squad, Female Special Force, and Rapid Response Squad.
“The NSCDC has deployed over 56,000 personnel across the federation to ensure a hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration. The massive deployment is aimed at protecting lives, property, and Critical National Assets and Infrastructure,” the statement read in part.
The Corps further revealed that Zonal Commanders had been directed to supervise operations within their areas, while State Commandants were instructed to closely monitor Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, and Outpost Heads to ensure strict compliance with operational guidelines.
Reaffirming the agency’s commitment to inter-agency collaboration, Afolabi urged Nigerians to support security agencies with timely and credible intelligence capable of preventing threats to public safety.
- He also warned criminal elements and vandals against attempting to disrupt public peace or attack government infrastructure during the festive period, stressing that anyone found culpable would face arrest and prosecution.
