NAPS Ogun Chairmanship Aspirant Urges Polytechnic Students to Prioritise Security

ABEOKUTA, OGUN STATE — A leading contender for the chairmanship of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), Ogun State Local Chapter, Comrade Opatunmbi Boluwatife Joshua, has issued a security advisory to students across polytechnic institutions in the state, urging them to remain vigilant and prioritise their safety amid growing security concerns.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Opatunmbi stressed the importance of security consciousness among students, noting that maintaining a safe learning environment requires collective efforts from students, school authorities, security agencies, and other stakeholders.
The chairmanship aspirant advised students to avoid unnecessary movement during late hours, stay alert to suspicious activities, and promptly report any potential security threats to relevant authorities.
He also cautioned against involvement in cultism, drug abuse, and other social vices that could jeopardise students’ lives and disrupt academic activities.
According to him, students should take proactive steps to safeguard their personal belongings, exercise caution in both online and offline interactions, and adhere to institutional regulations designed to protect lives and property.
“Students must remain vigilant and proactive regarding their personal security. By working together and reporting suspicious activities promptly, we can contribute to safer campuses across Ogun State,” he stated.
Reaffirming his commitment to student welfare, Opatunmbi pledged to advocate for improved security measures and policies that would enhance the safety and well-being of polytechnic students across the state if elected as NAPS Ogun SLC Chairman.
He further called on students to remain united, responsible, and dedicated to promoting peace, security, and academic excellence within their respective institutions.
