Basira Beere Opens Up on Alleged Domestic Abuse, Claims She Lost Four Pregnancies During Marriage

Yoruba film actress Omoshalewa Yusuf, popularly known as Basira Beere, has shared a heartbreaking account of her failed marriage, alleging that she endured repeated domestic abuse and suffered multiple pregnancy losses during the relationship.
The actress made the revelations during a recent appearance on the Talk to B podcast, where she recounted what she described as a traumatic chapter of her life marked by violence, emotional distress and personal loss.
According to Basira Beere, problems in the marriage reportedly began only a few days after their wedding. She alleged that tensions escalated following a seemingly harmless interaction involving congratulatory messages from a male acquaintance.
The actress claimed that the misunderstanding eventually developed into a pattern of physical abuse, with violent incidents occurring repeatedly throughout the marriage.
She further alleged that the severity of some of the incidents prompted intervention attempts from their landlord, who reportedly stepped in during periods of conflict.
Basira Beere said she remained in the marriage longer than she wanted due to societal expectations and advice encouraging her to be patient and persevere. According to her, such counsel, including guidance from her parents at the time, influenced her decision to stay despite the challenges she faced.
In an emotional narration, the actress alleged that she lost four pregnancies as a result of the abuse she endured, describing the experience as devastating and life-changing.
She also recalled one particularly severe incident that allegedly left her with serious injuries, an episode she said later became a subject of discussion on social media.
Her revelations have reignited conversations about domestic violence, the pressures placed on individuals to remain in abusive relationships, and the importance of support systems for victims of gender-based violence.
Basira Beere’s testimony adds to a growing number of public accounts from entertainers who have spoken candidly about experiences of marital breakdown and abuse, contributing to broader discussions on the need for awareness, intervention and protection for survivors.
