The Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd.), has visited two agency officers receiving treatment at the National Hospital, Abuja, after they were injured during a mob attack in the Federal Capital Territory.

The officers, Ayegh Zachariah and Shehu Ibrahim, sustained injuries on May 15, 2026, while participating in a raid on a suspected drug den in the Dawaki area of Abuja.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Director of Media and Advocacy at the NDLEA Headquarters, Abuja, Femi Babafemi.

During the visit on Monday, Marwa expressed sympathy to the injured officers and assured them of the agency’s full support throughout their recovery.

According to him, the NDLEA management would take full responsibility for their welfare and medical treatment until they regain full health.

“The Agency will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that those responsible for this cowardly attack are arrested and brought to justice. An attack on our officers is an attack on the state, and it will not go unpunished,” Marwa stated.

The NDLEA boss praised the officers for their bravery, professionalism, and dedication during the operation, noting that their sacrifices in the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking remain vital to national security.

As part of efforts to encourage the injured personnel, Marwa presented them with official Letters of Commendation personally signed by him, alongside support packages to aid their recovery.

He also commended the agency’s medical team and officials of the National Hospital, Abuja, for their swift response and quality care, which he said helped stabilise the officers.

Marwa reaffirmed the agency’s determination to intensify the fight against drug trafficking and dismantle criminal drug networks across the country despite attacks on its personnel.
